The South West Environmental Water and Floodplain team is currently seeking to appoint an Environmental Water Management Officer to contribute to the planning and delivery of environmental water, stakeholder management including the Snowy Advisory Committee, and provision of technical capacity and advice to support environmental water use decisions in the Snowy and montane rivers of NSW.

The role contributes towards the daily management of environmental water releases into the Snowy and montane rivers of NSW. Responsibilities include undertaking identified monitoring and field work, assist with the development and implementation of environmental water delivery plans, liaise with other partner agencies and groups, provide executive officer support to the Snowy Advisory Committee.

**About You**

To be successful in this role, you will need to have experience with developing and implementing environmental water programs, plans and projects as well as analyse and report on environmental outcomes. Additionally, you will have experience in developing and coordinating of water delivery partnerships and relevant environmental water advisory processes and manage stakeholder interactions and relationships including the Commonwealth. Operating independently as part of a multi-disciplinary geographically dispersed team, you will be required to travel frequently to remote locations focusing on the Snowy and montane rivers area. You will be a natural multi-tasker due to busy workloads and competing demands.

**Key knowledge and experience**
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in river and wetland planning and management, including the hydrology and ecology of rivers, floodplains and wetlands.
- Demonstrated ability to present and explain complex technical information to a non-technical audience.
- Demonstrated field-based experience to effectively manage and deliver river and wetland monitoring projects.
- Demonstrated knowledge of water, threatened species and biodiversity conservation legislation and policies, including the requirements of the Snowy Water Inquiry and Outcomes Implementation Deed.

**Essential requirements**
- A valid full Australian driver’s licence.
- A degree level tertiary qualification in environmental science, natural resources or other related field or equivalent experience.
- Willingness to undertake overnight travel and travel to remote locations including occasional weekends.
