**Position Information**:
York Public School has a current enrolment of 522 students, including 66 Aboriginal students, 41 students from a non-English speaking background and Support Unit named RISE (Resilience Inclusion Support Empowerment) catering for students with a disability. There are 7 Support Unit classes, (6 Multi-Categorical and 1 Autism Support class). The school has strong relationships with the parent community and is well connected to local community services. It is known as having a welcoming, accepting school environment. There are extensive extra-curricular opportunities provided which are valued by students, parents and staff. The position start date is Term 1, 2026.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach Special Education and/or experience in teaching students with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Mental Health Disorder and behavioural difficulties.

Demonstrated experience in collaborating with learning support team to enhance well-being and the attendance for all students at York Public School.

Highly developed interpersonal skills with a focus on teamwork, effective communication and building relationships with the wider school community.

Demonstrated capacity to lead, mentor and inspire teachers in developing individual plans, teaching programs and proven ability to integrate Special Needs Education into whole school initiatives.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
