It’s an exciting time for tennis in Australia and we have ambitious plans to continue to grow the game from grassroots through to high performance. We are transforming how we deliver tennis, with the aim of making it more accessible, to more people, more often. To help us achieve our plan we are looking for a Tennis Development Officer to join our team at Tennis NSW and contribute to the growth of tennis on a max-term basis until February 2026.
Fostering a workplace that is diverse and equitable is a high priority for Tennis NSW. We strongly encourage women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people who identify as LGBTQI, people with a disability and people from culturally diverse backgrounds to apply.
About the role
Reporting to the Tennis Development Manager, in this role you will drive growth in tennis participation by supporting stakeholders in the outstanding delivery of playing opportunities and development of sustainable tennis venues in their region. You will adhere to the national and state-aligned regional tennis plans and play an integral role in building sustainable pathways for club-based tennis.
In this role you will:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop tailored infrastructure and funding plans and strategies
- Assist clubs in securing government funding for the maintenance and enhancement of tennis assets
- Foster strong relationships with NSW member clubs, associations, and other tennis entities within the region, influencing and driving positive change
- Engage with relevant local government authorities on tennis-related projects and initiatives
- Provide support for Southern NSW schools, assisting with event coordination, administrative tasks, and educational initiatives
- Help clubs develop strategic marketing plans and leverage digital platforms to strengthen connections with existing and potential consumers
- Partner with the NSW Coach Relationship team to cultivate and maintain strong, collaborative ties between clubs and coaches
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to evoke the cooperation of stakeholders across a wide range of organisations including volunteers, coaches, associations and Local Government Agencies
- Demonstrated ability to influence change and drive behaviour of stakeholders towards a common goal
- A solid understanding of sports administration, ideally gained through volunteer experience in community sport at the club or association level
- Understanding of the tennis environment and the various stakeholders it engages
- A current driver’s licence
- Hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
- Preparedness to be flexible in regard to working hours and arrangements relating to work associated with Tennis Australia
What’s in it for you?
- Career development with a range of formal education and on the job training opportunities
- Monthly health & wellbeing activities through our Thrive program
- Tickets to the Australian Open
- Onsite gym & tennis facilities
- Flexible working practices & free car parking
- Salary packaging & a range of discounts from our sponsorship partners
To Apply
