This position will see you working as part of the Central Monitoring Station (CMS) team, the CMS Support Officer will provide support to the Duty CMS Operator during the twilight hours. This will include investigating physical security breaches identified by the access control alarm system, attending to and conducting routine engineering tasks, site lockups, patrols and plant operations at ACDP. The role is performed using established policy to achieve a responsive and reliable service to CSIRO Business and Infrastructure Services and its customers.
You will be based at our Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) which is a national facility operated by CSIRO. ACDP is the national animal health diagnostic, research and bio-containment facility. Its mission is to maintain Australia's capability to provide diagnostic and research services related to exotic and emerging animal diseases. The CSIRO Business and Infrastructure Services (CBIS) ACDP region team supports this mission by ensuring systems and processes operate within specification on a 24/7 basis.
This role will require you to work on a rotating roster, the shift cycle will consist of 4 consecutive 10.5-hour night shifts followed by 4-night shifts rostered off, repeatable across 365 nights.
**Your duties will include**:
- Attend to correspondence and other administrative duties as directed by CMS Operator.
- Undertake a nightly “Lock-Up” patrol to ensure all external doors on the facility are secure.
- Assist with the operation of CMS and investigate alarms and assist in remedial action as required.
- Patrol non-secure and secure areas of the building checking for unusual or undesired situations.
- Ensure engineering requested tasks are completed in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks and inspections as requested.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Executive Manager, Business & Infrastructure Services, ACDP or his representative.

**To be considered you will need**:
- Proven ability to use plant management control systems and physical security systems to operate, diagnose and maintain engineering plant and physical security systems. Demonstrated experience in analysing and solving problems in unusual or unfamiliar situations.
- Demonstrated high level technical knowledge and understanding of building and related engineering trades and services, ability to read and interpret technical drawings, maintenance manuals and a good understanding of a diverse range of engineering systems relevant to the safe operation of a complex research facilities.
- Proven interpersonal skills and a strong customer service focus including demonstrated ability in developing effective working relationships and accepting responsibility for the performance of your team with capacity to exercise sound judgement and flexibility in prioritising work against completing demands.
- Demonstrated ability to manage emergency responses including co-ordination of emergency response teams and services, site communications and implementing emergency response procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of relevant procedures/protocols associated with HSE requirements applicable to personnel, operations, safety and security of a complex facility, including competence in procedure development and Risk Management.
**Desirable**:
- In-depth knowledge of the Microbiological Principles at ACDP.
- Experience in participating in rotating shifts.
