**Role Summary**:
The Government Relations Advisor (Local Government) role is an opportunity in our Strategy, Policy and Social Value Team based at our Perth Forrest Centre Head Office.

In this role, you will support Synergy in fostering strong relationships with local government stakeholders, driving engagement with Western Australian Local Governments and the Western Australian Local Government Association (WALGA), as well as Members of Parliament at both State and Federal levels. Additionally, you will assist in executing Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities across Synergy Gas Generation locations, offering on-site support through processes, advice, and technical assistance to ensure compliance and safety standards are met.

**Key responsibilities of the role include**:

- Develop, manage, and deliver (in conjunction with the rest of the Government relations team) a coordinated strategic engagement plan for local government authorities.
- Engage in face-to-face and virtual advocacy with local government authorities.
- Assist or lead in developing responses to Commonwealth and State Government matters as and when required.
- Help in the building of strong relationships and the enabling of clear, timely accurate routine engagement with the Minister for Energy’s office.
- Engage with Members of Parliament and their staff on matters relating to the Synergy business in a coordinated, positive, and proactive manner in the interests of protecting and promoting Synergy’s corporate reputation and achieving Synergy’s corporate strategy.

**What you’ll bring**:

- Demonstrated experience (e.g., 3-5 years) working in the field of ministerial liaison/government relations or communication/public affairs.
- Sound understanding of legislative frameworks.
- Experience in evaluating corporate communications in line with policy implications.
- Robust understanding of the current Australian political, legal and policy landscape.
