Zerella Fresh is one of Australia’s largest growers and packers of Carrots, Onions and Potatoes supplying Australia’s leading supermarket chains plus independents and exports.

We are currently seeking experienced and motivated Product Quality Officers to join our team on a full-time permanent basis at our Parilla packing shed site located in the Mallee region of South Australia.

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the Product Quality Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the quality of all products is maintained in line with customer requirements.

A salary of $60,000 - $90,000 will be available, based on applicable qualifications and experience.

**Duties include**:

- Audit and monitor quality procedures within the potato, onion, and carrot packing facilities to ensure compliance with required quality standards, food health and safety standards and customer requirements.
- Take samples and complete routine testing of potato, onion, and carrot samples of for quality, size, and damage.
- Ensure that required standards of hygiene are observed within the potato, onion, and carrot packing facilities, including storage and transfer to transport.
- Conduct random sampling of products throughout the washing and packing process to identify quality issues and potential sources of damage. Complete incubation testing of all samples to effectively identify bacteria counts.
- Ensure sample results and analysis are reported in a timely manner, concisely, and effectively to key stakeholders.
- Ensure quality records are maintained and data is recorded accurately in the Information Leader system.
- Advise the Packing Shed Manager and Farm Managers of any concerns related to disease, contamination, or the presence and impact of bacteria.
- Provide advice on the management of pests relevant to the impact on grading, packing, and loading of products.
- Monitor WASH facilities, ensuring regulations are followed and routine water testing is completed.
- Understand quality and contamination protocols, ensuring they are always followed.
- Provide confidence that all packed produce meets the customer’s specification in terms of product size and quality, temperature, packaging, and labelling.
- All other requirements as directed to achieve business objectives.

**Requirements**:

- Diploma level qualification in Quality Assurance or related field, OR at least 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant work experience.
- Experience in a horticultural operation (desirable).
- Experience in the assessment of potato, carrot, and onion products (desirable).
- Experience in a packing shed environment (desirable).
- Unrestricted Class C Drivers Licence.
- Cultural adaptability and a willingness to work with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- A willingness to be hands on and participate in a broad range of duties, a strong work ethic is essential.

Flexible work hours are required for this role, in line with seasonal production requirements.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
