The Director of National Parks (the Director) is responsible for six national parks, the Australian National Botanic Gardens, 58 Australian Marine Parks and the Heard Island and McDonald Islands Marine Reserve established under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999. Parks Australia is the federal park agency that supports the Director, and they are a division of the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (the Department). We work to showcase these natural and cultural wonders to the world, demonstrating to all why these places are so special, and inspiring communities to become more invested in their care and future. The Department operates drones throughout Australia and Antarctica to meet the outcomes and key activities of the Department’s Corporate Plan. RPA are a foundational technology being used to: - Deliver on providing innovative and expert advice to the Australian Government grounded in evidence and science. - Increase the efficiency of land management activities in Commonwealth Parks. - Undertake compliance and surveillance activities in carrying out regulatory functions. - Engage and partner with First Nations Peoples. - Improve our staff’s safety and wellbeing in operational settings. **The Job** This is a technical role supporting the delivery of a multiyear project to enhance key Southeast Asian countries’ ability to manage their maritime domains through the improved use of contemporary technologies, with a focus on drones. This process will be used to fill a non-ongoing position for an initial engagement of 12 months with the possibility for ongoing appointment. The duties include: - Designing suitable training programs and educational materials focussed on drone operations in support of maritime domain awareness with a focus on government and law enforcement agencies. - Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with project collaborators and recipient countries. - Assisting with the development of capability plans to guide licensing and training requirements and procurement of equipment. - Supporting project reporting against key performance indicators, management of contracts and procurement. - Other Departmental duties as requested. We actively support flexible work arrangements and remote work. **What we are looking for** **Knowledge and experience** The successful applicant will have the following experience: - Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering drone capability training programs with experience in an international context highly desirable. - Demonstrated ability to work cross-culturally with English as a Second Language (ESL) stakeholders, with conversational fluency in a Southeast Asian language desirable. - Demonstrated experience in working effectively and flexibly across teams that are geographically dispersed to proactively identify and manage issues (e.g. competing/changing priorities). **Skills and capabilities** The successful applicant will have some or all the following: - Leadership -Take responsibility for the achievements of own and team outcomes, monitor progress and follow through to deliver quality outcomes. - Collaboration - Develop and support complex relationships with internal and external stakeholders both domestically and internationally. - Project Management - Develop, deliver, coordinate, plan and assess training programs. Co-ordinate contract management including developing tender documentation, managing selection processes and addressing contractor performance issues. - Communication - ability to communicate complex technical information in plain language formats also suitable for English as a Second Language (ESL). - Technical skills - Have oversight of training and development programs. - Prepare Standard Operating Procedures and guidelines. **Mandatory Qualifications** - Remote Pilot License (RePL) - Multirotor (
