**Your role**
Based in Perth with opportunities to get on-country in Onslow, this role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
As part of the executive team, this role is accountable for the smooth running of the corporations’ day-to-day operations and performance. You will recognise this means the role is crucial to the development and implementation of business strategies, maximising stakeholder satisfaction, and optimising the day-to-day operations of the corporation.
In this role, you will need to _really_ see the risks and opportunities of business strategies, as you will act as a strategic business partner for the executive team and the board.
Some of the broad and diverse duties will include:
- Assist with planning and preparation of annual budgets and monthly monitoring and analysis of Profit and Loss statements.
- Work closely with the executive team to develop and implement the corporation's strategic plan, business goals, and objectives.
- Oversee and manage our administration support team and Thalanyji businesses.
- Lead and mentor a high-performing team, promoting a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
- Regular appraisal and evaluation of results of overall operations.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations and performance of the corporation.
- Assist with the development and management of the corporation's budget, ensuring financial sustainability and growth.
- Liaise with and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, industry partners, and community members.
- Manage risk and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, Agreements, Trusts Deeds and Rule Book.
**About you**
You already hold the position of Chief Operating Officer (or similar) in your current job and are ready for your next challenge.
This means you:
- Have strong business acumen, with experience in budget development, financial analysis, and reporting.
- Are an expert in managing complex and diverse businesses.
- Demonstrate effective planning and organising skills, including time management, and know what to prioritise (often within a complex work environment with competing priorities).
- Ask insightful questions to understand the diverse views, interests, and expectations of stakeholders.
- Articulate a point of view and opinion on a matter with clarity (verbally and written).
- Think strategically and creatively and can implement effective plans and processes.
- Display emotional intelligence and empathy for others as a part of your normal behaviours. You show this in how you integrate a team member’s needs, opinions and preferences into the ways work is completed.
- Can communicate with stakeholders at all levels and can command authority and engagement in a room when required.
- Are a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven leader.
**Your qualifications and experience**
You have:
- 5+ years' experience in a similar role with an Aboriginal Corporation, including experience in governance and compliance.
- Demonstrated experience leading and mentoring others, with a proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
- An awareness and understanding of Aboriginal culture and communities (and the issues potentially faced in remote communities outside of Perth).
Having a bachelor's degree in a business-related field is preferred, however if you have significant experience in a similar role at an Aboriginal Corporation, a degree will not be required.
