About the Role
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key executive leader, primarily responsible for driving the organisation's operational excellence.
The newly created Chief Operating Officer position (COO) reports directly to the CEO and is accountable for the effective delivery of operational and service functions across the organisation. Through a collaborative and values-driven lens, the COO provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure services are high quality, customer-focused, financially sustainable, and compliant with all regulatory and safeguarding requirements.
The COO drives excellence in service delivery, builds organisational capacity and capability, and fosters a culture of innovation, accountability and continuous improvement to support the long-term sustainability and growth of the organisation.
Key elements of the role include:
- Strategic Leadership over the organisation's operations, modelling integrity, accountability, and values-based decision-making.
- Oversee the effective delivery of services ensuring they are customer-centred, safe, high quality, and accessible within the bounds of contractual, funding, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure financial sustainability through robust planning, budgeting, monitoring and driving organisational performance.
- Deliver quality, safeguards & care governance through the promotion of a culture of quality and accountability.
- Safety & people management that prioritises wellbeing, professional growth and workforce planning.
- Service development & innovation with the development of new services, programs and models of care.
- Stakeholder & community engagement in order to foster strong, collaborative relationships with government, sector bodies, community partners and advocacy groups.
- Oversee the management of risk & governance frameworks to ensure operational integrity and compliance.
- Deliver customer safeguards & wellbeing through a human rights-based approach.
- Drive effective use of ICT and digital solutions to improve service delivery and workforce performance.

Qualifications:
- Qualifications in Business, Management, Health, Disability Services, or related discipline (essential).
- MBA or equivalent highly desirable.
Essential Criteria:
- Minimum 5 years of significant executive leadership experience in complex, multi-site, customer-focused organisations.
- Proven ability to lead operational and service delivery functions
- Demonstrated success in driving organisational performance, continuous improvement, and team development, including leading change and organisational transformation.
- Strong financial management skills and commercial acumen, with the ability to balance strategic and operational priorities.
- In-depth understanding of governance, regulatory compliance and risk management.
- Proven success in fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, collaboration, and person-centred practice.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- High-level strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving capability, with the ability to translate strategy into operational results.
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience in disability, aged care, health, or community services.
- Experience in a similar COO or senior executive role.
