St John of God Health Care (SJGHC) is one of Australia's largest Catholic not-for-profit health care providers, employing approximately16,000 people across 27 facilities including 15 private hospitals, one public hospital (under PPP), 3 mental health hospitals, a rehabilitation hospital, in-home services, disability programs, and social outreach initiatives across Australia. These facilities collectively provide more than 3,300 hospital beds, offering care across major metropolitan and regional locations. The Opportunity

SJGHC is now looking to recruit an outcomes-focused, collaborative and strategically minded
Chief Operating Officer
who will be crucial in leading the organisation through its next phase of clinical excellence, growth and transformation.

As Chief Operating Officer, you will report directly to the Group CEO and provide leadership, strategic direction and execution across SJGHC's hospitals and services nationwide. You will translate strategy into measurable outcomes, elevate patient experience and clinical quality, and strengthen partnerships with clinicians, government, private health funds, and community stakeholders; while stewarding resources wisely in line with the Vision, Mission and Values.

Key Accountabilities

• Operational leadership:
  Deliver performance to targets across a multi-site portfolio; embed a culture of service excellence and exemplary safety; while ensuring regulatory compliance and best-practice OH&S.
• Clinical excellence & engagement:
  Partner closely with medical leaders to design, develop and deliver high-quality, evidence-based services.
• Growth, brand & market development:
  Build a high-performing business development and marketing capability; shape SJGHC's market position; drive volume growth, service innovation and customer experience.
• Capital projects & integration:
  Oversee successful delivery of brownfield/greenfield developments on time and budget and lead integration arising from M&A activity.
• Performance & stewardship:
  Optimise resource utilisation and revenue; leverage internal/external data to inform service models and network configuration.
• Stakeholder leadership:
  Represent SJGHC with media, regulators, insurers, industry bodies and community and act as an official spokesperson when required.

• Demonstrated success leading major change and transformation across multiple sites.
• Exceptional communication and influencing skills, including Board-level engagement.
• Strength in external partnerships with clinicians, regulators, government, insurers and community stakeholders.
• Prior large-scale healthcare leadership experience and a successful track record of partnering effectively with medical practitioners, executing on growth strategy and delivering on major facility developments.
