The Patient Safety Lead functions as part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for supporting the strategy, culture and organisational quality systems needed to meet our commitment to Best Care
The Patient Safety Lead works collaboratively with the Director of Best Care Operations, Best Care Governance Systems, Best Care Coordinators, senior managers, clinical/non-clinical staff and consumers to ensure that Western Health has an effective, co-ordinated, organisation-wide approach to patient safety and clinical risk management.
The Patient Safety Lead is responsible for the overall direction, leadership and coordination of patient safety initiatives, leading and supporting multidisciplinary teams in developing and delivering high quality recommendations to improve clinical practice/systems by contributing to trend analysis and monitoring improvement initiatives related to clinical risk management.
**To be Successful in this Role you**
- Will have significant, demonstrated experience in serious adverse event review methodology, including leading and facilitating review processes
- Will have a sound understanding of, and demonstrated ability to implement patient safety and clinical quality principles and processes, combined with a working knowledge of quality management systems used to review and monitor serious adverse events
- Have high level oral and written communication, negotiation and conflict resolution skills and experience in providing expert advice to multi disciplines including senior medical and clinical groups, both internal and external to the organisation
- Will provide leadership to support a culture within WH in which patient safety, clinical risk management, clinical quality and consumer partnerships become an integral part of core business
- Will provide education and ongoing coaching for clinicians / key stakeholders to build capability in conducting thorough investigations into patient safety and clinical risk mitigation
