**APS6 - Security Advisor**
The National Museum of Australia has a compelling opportunity for a security professional to join a fresh team dedicated to delivering streamlined and effective Museum security. You will have a once in a decade opportunity to shape significant security capital projects and the opportunity to enhance the Museum’s security management system by drafting and reviewing risk assessments, policies and operational procedures.
You will work with the Risk and Security Manager across the whole organisation. You will secure the invaluable national historical collection, respond to and investigate security incidents, work with close personal protection teams and contribute to security risk assessments.
You will have the opportunity to develop your existing security skills and participate in a network of cultural institution based security professionals.
**The key duties of the position include**:
Your duties include, but are not limited to:
- Contributing to a positive, safe and inclusive culture.
- Liaising with and managing security contractors in the delivery of security services
- Managing security risk assessments.
- Drafting high quality security procedures and guidelines that are consistent with relevant legalisation, standards and policies including the Commonwealth Protective Security Policy Framework and the National Museum of Australia Regulations 2019.
- Respond to security vulnerabilities and incidents; investigate causes and develop controls; oversee the Museum’s security operations and supervise an APS5 responsible for the day-to-day security tasks.
- Coordinate the Museum’s emergency management program, including warden training, the Emergency Coordination Organisation and the Emergency Planning Committee.
You will produce considered and constructive pathways through problems and when challenging situations present, you will step back to collaborate and find a productive solution.
You will interpret legislation and other security and risk related compliance documents and know where to find the relevant information to support your work. One of your key skills will be drafting high quality procedures and guidelines that are consistent with legislation, standards and Commonwealth policies.

**Eligibility**
- be an Australian citizen
- undergo a number of pre-employment checks, including a police records check
- obtain and maintain a valid security clearance at Negative Vetting Level 1.
