Our client, a prominent renewable energy company, seeks an experienced lawyer to join their legal team. This role offers the chance to provide strategic legal support, navigating regulatory complexities and ensuring compliance across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy projects.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide comprehensive legal counsel for various renewable energy infrastructure projects, including solar, wind, hydroelectric, and battery storage facilities.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts tailored to renewable energy projects, such as power purchase agreements (PPAs), interconnection agreements, and equipment supply contracts.
- Advise on regulatory compliance matters pertinent to renewable energy development, including permitting, environmental assessments, and grid integration.
- Conduct thorough due diligence assessments for potential renewable energy ventures, identifying and mitigating legal risks and compliance issues.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to devise and execute strategies for navigating regulatory landscapes and securing approvals for renewable energy initiatives.
- Stay informed about emerging legal and regulatory trends in the renewable energy sector, providing proactive guidance to internal teams.
- Assist in formulating corporate policies and procedures related to renewable energy project development, financing, and operations.
- Support external legal providers in the management of any disputes associated with renewable energy projects, representing the company in negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations.
**Requirements**:
- Qualified solicitor/barrister with 4 + years pqe with a focus on renewable energy projects.
- Strong understanding of renewable energy law, encompassing project development, financing, and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate complex contracts and agreements specific to renewable energy projects.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Capacity to thrive in a dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities effectively.
- Collaborative mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
**Preferred Qualifications**:
- Previous experience in a major law firm or in-house legal department with a specialisation in renewable energy projects.
- Familiarity with international renewable energy projects and cross-border transactions.
- Proven track record of providing legal counsel to clients within the renewable energy sector on intricate legal matters.
