These fellowships aim to develop the next generation of future leaders of the innovation system.
In this position you will undertake research to develop superinfection exclusion strategies to control mosquito-borne infections with broadly outlined objectives. The CERC Fellow will sit within a larger vector-borne disease team with a focus on utilising novel technologies to reduce the burden of mosquito transmitted infectious disease in Australia. Specifically, you will investigate the mechanisms of superinfection exclusion to use as a tool for viral control in Australian mosquitoes. It is expected that you will drive this project under broad supervision of mentors and collaborators. The fellow will also further develop and contribute to new projects that fit with the overarching strategy of the research group.
This position will be based within the high containment (PC3) laboratories at the CSIRO Australian Centre for Disease Preparedness (ACDP) facility. ACDP (formerly known as the Australian Animal Health Laboratory) helps protect Australia’s multi-billion dollar livestock and aquaculture industries, and the general public, from emerging infectious disease threats. It is a high-containment facility designed to allow scientific research into the most dangerous infectious agents in the world.
