about the role

Chevron Australia has an exciting opportunity for an Occupational Health Specialist to join the Health and Medical team. Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), this role will be based in Perth.

Key responsibilities include:
Fitness for Duty (FFD)- Maintain and develop FFD Process, ensure alignment with Global Health and Medical process, legal requirements and evidence-based best practice.-
- Develop and deliver Fitness for Duty and Return to Work training for workforce and other stakeholders- Conduct review and audit of FFD process and procedures- Execute the FFD process requirements at pre-employment, job transfer, periodic medical and return to work for ABU,CAD and contractor personnel- Maintain and develop the Drug and Alcohol policy- Implement and monitor the Drug & Alcohol program- Implement carriage of needles and syringes and unauthorized medicines process- Implement the Remote Benefits Policy and Salary Continuance Policy- Represent the ABU Health & Medical team as SME for Fitness for Duty- Provide training and mentorship on the FFD process to contract groups and relevant stakeholders- Work in partnership with Company and project HES teams to manage FFD as an Operational Excellence process- Work in partnership with Contractor Operational Excellence Management (COEM) process owner to promote contractor compliance with FFD process- Coordinate and maintain the Medical Suitability for Expat Assignment (MSEA) Process and Medical Examination Program (MEP) FFD processes (inclusive of Pre-employment, periodic medical examinations, Job Transfer and Occupational Health surveillance)- Work in partnership with CMO, contractors, HR and Recruitment to determine personnel FFD at pre-employment, job transfer, periodic assessment and for return to work following injury and illness- Work in partnership with the CMO, contractors, Expatriate Counselor and Corporate Health and Medical to ensure that the expatriate medical process is aligned with Corporate Health and Medical Expatriate suitability policies.- Work in partnership with Occupational Hygiene in management of Occupational Exposure and Acute Health Surveillance, and ensure results are managed according to MEP and regulator requirements.- Maintain current GO 308 (functional requirements) and ensure regular review / update of these documents- Participate in Global Fitness for Duty COP- Assist with education, training and execution of Fatigue Risk and Mental Health Risk Assessment

Illness / Injury Management- Maintain the Injury/Illness Management System, including return to work programs- Represent the Health & Medical team as an SME for Injury/Illness management- Maintain & review process requirements associated with Injury /Illness Management System-
- Assist in the classification of cases as to cause and severity of injury in accordance with Operational Excellence Data Reporting Standard (OERDS)- Coordinate (with Workers Compensation Administrator) Chevron’s workers’ compensation cases with the insurance company to minimize totals cost and expenditure with claims.- Conduct regular case reviews with Insurance Company on worker’s compensation cases and claim strategy.- Coordinate management and conduct regular case review with the Chief Medical Officer on all reported work-related injuries- Oversee and ensure adequate contractor injury management process- Work in partnership with COEM process owner to promote contractor compliance and with injury management process- Coordinate, review and maintain the FFD Return to Work process for ABU and CAD- Implement the Return to Work Process for both Chevron employees and contractors- Coordinate and manage out of hours / on-call medivac and injury management processes as required.- Develop relationships with local medical providers to support and align with the Chevron fitness for duty and return to work process.

Health Program- Collaborate with Wellness Coordinator for deployment of Health Initiatives: e.g. Flu Clinic, Skin Checks and Mental Health Programs- Participate in performing Health consultations as required- Deliver presentations to stakeholders and workforce on proposed Health Initiatives- Coordinate Travel Health consultations
