We at InterAmerican Coffee Pty have been importing and distributing high quality and specialty coffees from all over the world since 1983 and are now open for business locally and partnering with local Australian roasters. Working in close collaboration with local long-term partners and sister companies within Neumann Kaffee Gruppe at origin, we commit to meticulous quality control starting at the farms and continuing through shipping to ourselves or customers and the quality lab.

For our group company, InterAmerican Coffee Australia, we are looking for a Quality and Lab Coordinator (Full Time/ Part time).

The position will be based in Sydney, Australia and reports directly to Operations Manager.

The Coffee Quality and Lab Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing the quality control processes and ensuring that our coffee meets the highest quality standards. This role involves cupping, sample testing, documentation, and data analysis to insure reliability and consistency in our coffee products. The coordinator will also prepare samples for coffee roasters and maintain lab equipment & supplies.

**Responsibilities**:
Quality & Cupping- Conduct regular cupping sessions to assess coffee quality and maintain consistent flavor profiles.- Evaluate coffee samples, including green, roasted, and cupping, according to company standards.- Document cupping results and provide feedback for quality improvement

Trade Support- Sample preparation and postage- Assisting with client cupping in the lab- Minimum monthly cupping event held at Rozelle- Minimum 2 interstate cupping events held per year focus on VIC and QLD- General Office maintenance and general assistance

Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and organized lab environment, ensuring that all equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.- Order lab supplies and manage inventory to avoid disruption in operations.- Follow strict sanitation and hygiene protocols within the lab.

Collaboration:
- Support training sessions for team members on quality standards and lab protocols.- Assist with customer-facing quality concerns and provide expertise when necessary.

**Profile**:
Education: Q Grader preferred, but not essential

**Experience**:
- 2 years working in the coffee industry as QC, coffee roaster or head barista.- 1 year of management experience

**Skills**:
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.- Proficiency in data collection, recording, and analysis tools.- Ability to maintain lab cleanliness and organization.- Excellent communication skills for collaboration and feedback.- Coffee foundations: barista / coffee roaster- Previous ordering/restocking management experience- Demonstrable experience of sound decision making

Physical Requirements:
- Ability to taste coffee regularly and have a keen sensory evaluation capacity.- Comfortable with tasks requiring repetitive motion, such as cupping and sample handling.- Standing for extended periods during quality control tasks.
