The role

To partner with business unit stakeholders to identify & implement BI initiatives. To support QBE Australia’s Executives, formulate & drive Operational Strategy.

How will I help?

A day in the role may look a bit like this;

Strategy and Planning
- Manage strategic imperative outcome
- Review business effectiveness across all functional areas for improvement opportunities
- Successfully support QBE Australia Management & Senior BI Mgrs in developing operational strategy, defining strategic project portfolio & implementing strategic initiatives
- Align ANZO strategic initiatives to support QBE Global strategic imperatives
- Successfully partner with business unit stakeholders to identify and implement BI initiatives to increase QBE operational efficiency

Policy, Process and Procedures
- Compliance with relevant legislation, industry codes and company policies and procedures
- Initiate, facilitate and capitalize on best practices & innovations, such as new technologies and BI management practices
- Successful completion of all required advice and compliance training
- No breaches
- All improvement initiatives comply with the relevant requirements
- Continuous business process improvement that are aligned to improving business unit’s KPIs and can be translated into tangible benefit

Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus
- Lead and facilitate meetings and workshops as part of project management support
- Lead team members to derive trends, conclusions and recommendations based on data and analysis
- Up-Skill / Train Business Sponsors and Business resources in Process Excellence (PE) Principles
- Positive stakeholder feedback
- Alignment of recommendations/project outcome to business KPI target
- PE training prograM/Framework developed
- Business Resources trained in PE principles
- Technical Performance
- Lead the development of operational & organizational design & manage implementation
- Solve business problems, understand the root cause(s) and drive improvements via qualitative & quantitative data
- Conduct primary and secondary research on markets, competitors and customers
- Project charter outlines Business Benefits and is signed off by the business and/or Project objective in alignment to overall QBE’s strategy
- Delivery of effective solutions to problems within specified scope and timeframes
- Effective completion of business cases, cost benefit analysis and business models within specified scope and timeframes

People Management
- Actively coach and mentor Business Analysts and Graduates to ensure optimum performance
- Liaise with BI colleagues across the globe
- Development plans in place for direct reports
- PMP’s completed on time
- Global BI network

What do I need?

To be successful you will have.
- Ability to define and break down complex problems to understand the root cause(s).
- Excellent communicator, with strong facilitation, good negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Leadership skills
- Ability to Train/Coach staff on PE
- Moderate project management and financial modeling skills
- 4 + years of experience in a commercial BI role
- Experience in leading and managing BI initiatives
- Exposure to business process re-engineering, commercial analysis, development & monitoring of SLAs and developing & executing business transformation
- Desirable: possess General Insurance experience

Preferred Knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of business transformation principles and improvement methodologies
- Lean Six Sigma methodology
- Knowledge of Balance Scorecard
- Relevant tertiary qualifications | Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt Certified | Desirable: posses Master of Business Administration | Desirable: posses Lean Six Sigma - Black Belt certification
