**CARER PEER SUPPORT WORKER (LIVED EXPERIENCE ROLE)**
- ** Multiple part-time positions available**:

- **2 - 3 days per week, as preferred**
- Carer Peer Support Workers at Inner West Area Mental Health Service (IWAMHS) work as part of the dedicated and innovative Carer Lived Experience team. The Carer Lived Experience team at IWAMHS aims to support the recognition, inclusion, participation, and needs of carers, families, and supporters of the service. The team does this by supporting carers at an individual level through Carer Peer Support, advocacy, and carer groups, and on a broader systemic level in ensuring the carer lived experience perspective is included at all levels of service development, delivery, and training.

**Your new role**:

- Use your significant personal ‘lived experience’ of caring/supporting someone who has accessed adult public mental health services - you may be a carer, friend, partner, family member, or other support person who has provided emotional or practical support to someone in your life
- Provide peer-based information and support to carers/families of someone accessing IWAMHS
- Support information sessions, groups, and activities for carers/families of the service

**About you**:

- You are able to intentionally share your carer lived experience and knowledge to contribute to the Carer Lived Experience team and promote the carer lived experience perspective across the service
- In addition to your own lived experience, you are able to draw on the broader ‘carer perspective’ and collective knowledge gained through engaging with the carer lived experience discipline, the Carer Lived Experience team and carers of the service
- You have an ability to work collaboratively with a range of multidisciplinary colleagues and people from different backgrounds and perspectives
- You have strong, supportive and collaborative interpersonal and communication skills
- You are a self-motivated, passionate, and well-organised person with a passion for provision of high quality, peer and recovery-focused support services

**Benefit of working with The Royal Melbourne Hospital/NorthWestern Mental Health**:

- Work for a leading and supportive Carer Lived Experience team
- Work for a recognised Area Mental Health Service
- Start a role where your passion and expertise can come together
- IWAMHS boasts a sophisticated learning structure and we pride ourselves on supporting continuing professional development
