**Carer Peer Support Worker (Lived Experience role)**

**Part time (Up to 32 hours per fortnight)**
- Opportunity to join a dedicated and innovative team of Carer Lived Experience staff
- Use your significant carer lived experience supporting a relative/friend with an eating disorder within the Adult mental health public system to provide support and information to other carers/family members
- Use your carer lived experience to participate in the codesign of future service developments following the Royal Commission into Victorian Mental Health Services
- Work for a leading Area Mental Health Service and within a multidisciplinary team

**Your new team**:

- The Carer Lived Experience team at IWAMHS aims to support the recognition, inclusion, participation, and needs of carers, families, and supporters of the service. The team does this by supporting carers at an individual level through Carer Peer Support, advocacy, and carer groups, and on a broader systemic level in ensuring the carer lived experience perspective is included at all levels of service development, delivery, and training

**Your success in this role, will be in your ability to**:

- Use your lived experience of caring foran adult with an eating disorder who has accessed adult public mental health services to contribute to service developments and carer participation across the IWAMHS
- Draw on existing carer lived experience knowledge to further progress the carer peer support role on the Eating Disorders Inpatient unit at Royal Melbourne Hospital
- Think innovatively and work as a team member
- Network and collaborate with managers, team leaders, lived experience and clinical staff
- Strong interpersonal, communication
- Ability to work as part of the team and work independently

**About You**:

- A significant personal lived experience of caring for someone with an eating disorder and accessed adult public mental health services. For example, has supported a consumer of an Area Mental Health Service and/or adult psychiatric inpatient unit.
- Operate as a self-motivated, passionate, and well-organised person with a passion for provision of high quality, recovery focused services
- Be a true team player with confidence to share your wisdom, knowledge, and experience to contribute to the Carer Lived Experience team and promote the carer lived experience perspective across the service
