In the role of Principal Advisor you will coordinate, actively participate and contribute to projects and teams involved with the development and delivery of transport system outcomes and strategy in consultation and cooperation with stakeholders. The role focuses on commercial implications and opportunities relevant to the road network, as well as monitoring the ongoing performance of tolling service suppliers to the state. The role will require the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders in a challenging environment of constant change and diverse philosophical positions. You may be required to supervise a small team to achieve team objectives.
The Transport System Governance unit develops and reviews policies in relation to tolling and toll roads, contributes to the assessment of proposed toll roads, manages the state's interests in state and local government toll roads and works with toll road operators to provide toll road users with consistent customer service.

**Accountabilities include**:

- Manage and participate in project teams, comprising internal and external resources, to develop and implement strategic policy, and ensure that branch projects are completed within quality, cost and time constraints
- Contribute to the specification and design of commercial and business processes between government and the private sector to ensure the efficient operation of the toll road network
- Initiate, develop, maintain, and manage effective ongoing constructive relationships with clients, suppliers, other government agencies, industry bodies, stakeholders and professional networks while managing the state's interests
- Provide authoritative, strategic and tactical advice on tolling related proposals taking into account many varied perspectives, and negotiate and influence positive outcomes
- Develop, prepare and present comprehensive, high quality submissions, reports, briefs and policy/research papers within tight timeframes for senior and executive management
- Identify, research, analyse and provide advice on the development of concepts, policies, models and strategies which contribute to broad government and organisational objectives, including road infrastructure, sustainable transport systems, and alternative funding models
- Monitor and report on tolling service provider performance against contractual arrangements and key performance indicators, and resolve any identified performance gaps
- Contribute to the development of legislation, policy and strategic directions impacting the operation of the toll road network in Queensland
- Actively participate in performance conversations to build and support a culture of performance improvement

This position reports to the Manager (Commercial Roads - Projects).
