In this leadership role as part of our Social Performance Centre of Excellence, you will lead the creation of a positive presence and legacy in our neighbouring communities and effectively manage the social impacts of our business.

Reporting into our Global Director - Social Sustainability, one of your key responsibilities and purpose will be to lead the operationalisation of Alcoa’s new Social Management System that is comprised of our four social standards: Social Performance, Indigenous Peoples, Cultural Heritage and Human Rights across the Australian region and further contribute to our business by:
- Supporting with Social performance at Alcoa managed locations and for growth opportunities, building the capabilities through internal training, and keeping pace with upcoming changes and developments.- Identifying improvement opportunities and managing our social risks whilst ensuring that Alcoa delivers on its commitments to our communities.- Partnering with our global teams across Social Performance to share best practices and participating towards planning and strategy development to advance sustainably.- Overseeing a small team across Aboriginal Engagement and Cultural Heritage, ensuring alignment on agreements, matters, effective engagement across employment and services, learning and development.- Managing and developing regular dashboard reports to track and measure progress related to both Alcoa’s Social Management System implementation and social performance of the locations within the region.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
- Tertiary qualifications in relevant discipline - Science, Commerce, Law, Social Studies, or related field.- Experience working within a similar leadership capacity across the mineral resource sector with an understanding of commercial parameters of mining and minerals processing.- An ability to engage people in an authentic way, building meaningful relationships along with experience in facilitating and leading multi-disciplinary project teams to achieve objectives within critical path timelines.- Passion for coaching, mentoring and empowering others to succeed whilst building on their competencies.- Awareness of the importance of Aboriginal traditional land connections, legal title and claims to land, water and other natural resources.- Knowledge of relevant international context and soft law such as Free, Prior, Informed Consent (FPIC) and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).- Familiarity with relevant national legislation in Australia and specifically regarding social requirements related to approvals and the mining code.- Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work through and influence others to effect change.- Dynamic ability to work as part of a global team with the flexibility to accommodate meetings in different time zones to collaborate with colleagues and key stakeholders.
