We have an exciting role available for a Head of Data and Insights to join our Technology Team based in our Cremorne Office, Melbourne.
About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager of Technology, this is a rare and exciting opportunity, perfect for a strategic and organised team player. The Head of Data and Insights will be responsible for leading the organization’s data strategy, overseeing data management, and driving the use of data and analytics to deliver actionable insights that influence business decision-making. This leadership role involves managing a cross-functional team of data professionals and collaborating closely with other teams to ensure the effective utilization of data to improve business performance.
**The key responsibilities will include the following**:
**Data Strategy & Vision**:
- Define and implement the organization’s data and insights strategy, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
- Oversee the design, development and management of the organisation’s data infrastructure that supports business needs and drives data-driven decision-making.
- Ensure that data is managed as a strategic asset across the company and continuously look for opportunities to unlock its value.
**Business Intelligence Strategy (BI) and Execution**:
- Define and implement the BI strategy in alignment with organizational objectives, ensuring BI solutions deliver actionable insights to all levels of the business.
- Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of BI tools to support data visualization, reporting, and analysis needs across departments.
- Ensure the BI tools are integrated with the data warehouse and other internal systems to provide a holistic view of organizational data.
**Advanced Analytics & Reporting**:
- Lead the development of advanced analytics solutions such as predictive modelling, trend analysis, and machine learning integration to enhance the organization’s capabilities.
- Oversee the creation of ad-hoc reports and custom queries to support business decision-making in real time.
- Ensure that insights drive business decisions, improve operational efficiency, and uncover new opportunities for growth.
**Leadership & Team Management**:
- Lead and inspire a team of data analysts, engineers, and insights professionals to deliver high-quality, actionable insights.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and performance-driven culture within the data and insights team.
- Build team capabilities through training, mentoring, and hiring top talent.
**Data Governance & Quality Assurance**:
- Establish and enforce data governance standards to ensure the integrity, accuracy, security, and privacy of data in the data warehouse and BI systems.
- Implement data quality checks and validation procedures to maintain the reliability and consistency of data across all platforms.
- Work closely with data stewards and business units to ensure data definitions and business rules are standardized and well understood.
**Cross-functional Collaboration**:
- Work closely with business leaders to identify data-driven opportunities and ensure the use of insights to improve business outcomes.
- Advocate for the adoption of data-driven decision-making processes, promoting the use of BI tools and reports across the organization.
- Support data-driven decision-making across the organization by promoting data literacy and ensuring stakeholders understand how to interpret and use insights.
- Collaborate with other technology teams to ensure seamless integration of data sources and the scalability of data solutions.
**Innovation & Continuous Improvement**:
- Lead the adoption of cutting-edge data solutions, machine learning, AI, and automation to enhance data capabilities and efficiency.
- Continuously refine the data strategy to meet evolving business needs and opportunities in the marketplace.
**Stakeholder Reporting & Communication**:
- Present data and insights to executive leadership and key stakeholders in a clear and actionable manner.
- Be an escalation point for business leaders on data and insight queries
