The role you will play

The LGBTIQ+ Coordinator reporting to the National Head of Department is a part of the senior social mission management team. This position provides specialist LGBTQA+ diversity and inclusion knowledge, expertise, and leadership within the priority areas of the Social Mission Department. You will participate in the planning, development and implementation of a variety of programs and projects and work closely with department staff to responsibly utilize resources; delivering quality services, and actively contributing to our vision.

You will successfully
- Lead organizational and educational initiatives that reflect The Salvation Army’s commitment to be a leader in LGBTQ Social Services as well as a recognized leader as an employer.
- Assist in the development and review of national frameworks and service delivery models to meet the needs of LGBTIQA+ people and communities
- Liaise with Policy, Research and Social Justice to develop and implement advocacy programs and tools for use at the local, state or national level to address policies and legislation that discriminate based on sexual orientation, gender identity and/or gender expression.
- Support the implementation of quality and continuous improvement across the department in line with organisational directives and delegations
- Coordinate LGBTIQA+ communities of practice and or working groups
- Embed the voice of people from LGBTIQA+ and key priority areas across the Social Mission Department
- Provide expertise and assist in the design, delivery, and evaluation of programs
- Serves as liaison and chair to various stakeholder groups and community partners

This is a permanent full-time position. Location for the position is flexible within Australia.

What we’re looking for
- Degree qualification in social work, policy, welfare, community development or related field and
- relevant experience
- Post graduate qualification would be highly regarded
- Experience in leading diversity and inclusion organisational initiatives at a senior level Experience in active membership in community or government bodies within the diversity and inclusion sector
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check (relevant to State)
- Ability to provide proof of Eligibility to Work in Australia
