Genomic Diagnostics provides comprehensive genomic testing, spanning reproductive health, oncology inherited disease, and personalised medicine to an extensive network of public and private hospitals and community referrers across Australia. Our primary focus is to provide high quality and timely genomic information to assist in clinical decision-making and diagnosis of disease.

**The Role**

This is an exciting opportunity for a Scientist or Technician with strong people management and operational skills to oversee the Genomic Diagnostics technical team and contribute to laboratory operations.

As Team Leader - Technical you will use your strong people management skills to supervise and coordinate a team of Laboratory Technicians in their day-to-day activities to maintain efficient testing workflows.

You will work closely with the Chief Scientist, Operations Manager and Team Leaders to contribute to the development, implementation and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures.

**Your key responsibilities will include**:

- Supervising and coordinating a team of Laboratory Technicians, in collaboration with the Operations Manager and Team Leaders
- Contributing to the development, implementation and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures
- Coordinating maintenance activities such as cleaning, building works, deliveries and stock management
- Oversee training & competency assessments of laboratory technicians
- Contribute to projects, audits, test development, instrumentation, implementation and revision of existing procedures, reporting any hazards conducting appropriate risk assessments
- Ensuring good laboratory practices are upheld
- Maintaining accurate documentation and records & patient confidentiality

**What Type of Person Will be Successful**

You will be a Scientist or Technician with strong leadership experience ideally in the health service or scientific laboratory field. You will have working knowledge of medical testing laboratory accreditation requirements and have a high level of communication & interpersonal skills to collaborate with all levels of internal & external stakeholders.

**These are the type of attributes & skills you would possess**:

- A tertiary science degree or an equivalent qualification
- Previous leadership experience in a technical or operations role
- Experience in a health service or scientific laboratory, ideally in pathology
- Strong knowledge of medical testing accreditation requirement & standards
- Excellent writing & analytical skills with highly developed organisational & project management skills
- Q-Pulse knowledge is an advantage
