**About the Opportunity**
As the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Specialist, you’ll play a pivotal role in implementing strategies and interventions that embrace diversity, ensure equity, and promote inclusion of under-represented groups to our work environment. With a principal focus on disability, your goal will be to increase the employment participation rate of individuals with disabilities, ensuring their success in employment. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with leadership and operational teams to build an inclusive and accessible culture, where people with disabilities are embraced for the talent and uniqueness they bring to the organisation.
**What you’ll be doing**
- Facilitating the recruitment and employment of individuals with disabilities into the National Contact Centre
- Assisting with assessing the skills and needs of individuals with disabilities to determine suitable employment opportunities
- Supporting and facilitating reasonable modifications to recruitment processes, including applicant screening, assessment, and interviews
- Coaching and supporting individuals with disabilities and leaders in managing and leading diverse teams
- Developing and delivering diversity awareness and inclusion training, challenging myths, stereotypes, and biases
- Working with leaders to identify and implement reasonable workplace accommodations for individuals with disabilities
- Developing and delivering initiatives and programs that promote inclusion and engagement across the organisation
- Advocating for the rights and needs of under-represented groups, working to eliminate barriers to employment and promote equal opportunity
- Monitor and track employment participation rates of individuals with disabilities, using data and feedback to improve DE&I initiatives
**About you**
You’re a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion with excellent communication skills and a deep understanding of disability impacts and accommodations. Empathy, patience, and strong interpersonal skills are key to your approach, enabling you to build trust and rapport with clients and stakeholders. You are proactive and skilled in developing and implementing DE&I initiatives, with a collaborative mindset to work with various teams and external partners.
**Your ideal skills & experience**
- A passion for serving the community and working with people with additional needs
- Experience in implementing successful practices and initiatives which support the successful employment of people with disabilities.
- Awareness of community outreach services, vocational rehabilitation programs, and disability employment services
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Empathy, patience, and sensitivity in working with diverse individuals
- Strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships
- Experience in job design, placement, or vocational assessment will be highly regarded
- Exposure to a contact centre or service-based industry is advantageous
