Your role at St John of God Social Outreach
Principally, to provide a high standard of care and quality service to the young people residing within St John of God Social Outreach (SJGSO) Horizon House. This involves creating a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment that supports the well-being and personal development of each young person through relationship-based care. In all aspects of their role, the Youth Worker places the interests and well-being of young people at the forefront, fostering a supportive, respectful, and nurturing environment that promotes growth, and positive relationships
The Youth Worker shares responsibility with Management for ensuring that children/young people are safe in Horizon House programs, acts in children’s/young people’s best interests and actively works to empower children/young people.
This role will involve AM & PM shifts including sleep overs.
The Position- Provide safe and stable long term accommodation to a young people who are at risk of being homelessness.- Able to provide outreach, therapeutic and practical support to meet the continuum of care arrangements for young people with complex needs.- Assist young people to realise their aspirations and potential integration into mainstream society.- Provide support to young people in areas including independent living skills, involvement in education, training and employment services.- Enhance a young person’s wellbeing and personal development through engagement with the broader resources and supports available in the community.
You will have an understanding of the special needs of adolescents and trauma-informed care, together with recent experience working with at-risk young people, extensive experience in an area related to youth work and knowledge of the Privacy Legislation and Occupational, Health & Safety Act Regulations.
Successful applicants will hold a Certificate IV in Youth Work or similar, State’s Drivers Licence, CPR/First Aid and Working with Children Card.

- Casual hourly rate: $46.67 to $50.05 per hour (inclusive of casual loading), plus 12% superannuation- As a casual employee, you can salary package a percentage of your earnings each pay period- A healthy work-life balance through flexible work options, additional purchased leave & well-being programs- Employee discount on St John of God Hospital & Medical Services and Private Health Insurance
