Key responsibilities

- Use your lived or living experience of mental ill health and recovery to build connection, offer hope, and support others on their recovery journey.
- Provide tailored and integrated case managed responses to young people through flexible outreach.
- Deliver high-quality services to respond to the unique needs of young people, offering a flexible and person-centred approach.
- Provide resources and support to help young people foster positive relationships with those important to them.
- Support young people to navigate services and connect with community supports that help them build confidence, independence, and meaningful participation in daily life.
- Actively contribute to co-design and service improvement, championing the voice and leadership of people with lived experience.

About the role

We’re looking for compassionate Peer Practitioners for casual positions within our Youth Psychosocial team in the Perth Metro area. Using your lived experience of mental health challenges, you will connect with young people through assertive outreach, coordinate support, and empower them to achieve wellbeing goals, maintain stable housing, manage daily life, and engage in education or employment. Ideal candidates have at least two years’ experience and a genuine passion for supporting recovery.

About the Service

The Youth Psychosocial Support Package (YPSP) helps young people aged 16–24 with a mental illness, whether living independently or with family. Through tailored Individualised Recovery Plans, the service supports participation in community, social, educational, and vocational life, helping young people build confidence, independence, and meaningful connections.

What you’ll bring

- Tertiary qualifications are required in Mental Health, Peer Work, Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) or other health related field as designated by Mind.
- Completion of Intentional Peer Support Core and/ or Advanced Training, or Certificate IV in Mental Health Peer Work, is desirable but not required.
- Lived or living experience of mental distress and recovery and willingness to support clients through sharing learnings and recovery orientated practice is required.
- Previous experience in using lived experience and expertise in a dedicated Peer role.
- Experience, expertise and/or desire in working directly with people with mental health issues, and their families and carers.
- Must hold a valid, unrestricted driver’s licence and have access to a reliable vehicle. Kilometre allowance available for work-related travel.
