Sydney Water have partnered with Delivering 4 Customers (D4C) to deliver; design, construct, maintenance and facilities management services as part of the P4S program in Sydney Water's Southern Region.
D4C is a consortium of Lendlease, John Holland, Comdain Infrastructure and WSP. Over a 10-year period, D4C will provide long term employment opportunities to diversify the skills of the people in the Southern Region of Sydney as well as create pathways to enter the water industry.
We are delivering a number of projects within this long-term program with Sydney Water and have identified the need for a Design Manager to provide support across multiple programs.
The Opportunity

Deploy risk management principles & methodologies into project systems and processes.
Accountable for business and project delivery as required to lead the delivery of high-quality design delivery on project.
Management of design team and interfacing with contractor workforce.
Prepare design fee estimates for both the “tender design phase” and the “delivery phase” of each project.
Liaise with other key roles of the project
Manage the overall delivery of designs to time, budget and quality. You'll also manage Engineering governance processes (design reviews, change management, request for information, validation and verification, etc., related to the design.)
Management of design team and interfacing with contractor workforce.

Typically, 10 - 15 years of relevant (Water) industry experience.
Demonstrated high level of technical knowledge.
Strong experience in working in partnership with other design organisations in Alliance or JV. Skilled in managing conflicts between organisational cultures and business systems demands
Extensive experienced in owning and being responsible for signing off on design. Delivered designs that meet legal requirements, quality standards and client outcomes on projects.
Established and managed complex design processes and systems in high profile projects
Proven competency in project management.
Demonstrated leadership and management ability.
Demonstrated sound technical knowledge.
Able to juggle multiple tasks across several projects across the business unit.
Basic knowledge of contracts or drafting variations desirable.
Knowledge and experience in cost reporting, analysis, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word essential.
