Ranger - Casual Pool
5 days ago
The City’s busy Rangers team is looking to increase their casual pool during high workload periods, for coverage of leave and for proactive patrolling of beaches and parks.
The City is progressive in the way it operates so adaptability to change and a positive attitude is important.
The City has adopted a new Animal Management Plan and proactive patrols will be dedicated to educating the public at the Cities parks and reserves. This will include checking animals for microchips and registration and enforcing compliance to the Dog Act where needed.
As a casual Ranger you will be involved in the enforcement of various State Acts and local laws; related to Local Government matters such as the Litter, Dog and Cat Act, Off Road and Abandoned Vehicles, Local Laws including Parking and other Acts.
Applicants must possess the following;
- Previous experience in a similar compliance role or transferable skills from prior roles
- Certificates in Municipal Law Enforcement A&B or the equivalent Regulatory Officer Compliance Skills (ROCS 1 & 2).
- Current driver's licence
- Highly developed communication skills to negotiate professionally in conflict resolution situations
- Computer skills to operate hand held devices and system data entry
- Sound investigative skills
Our Rangers Service operates 7 days a week, and the successful applicant must be able to work outside of normal office hours, weekends and some public holiday periods, at which point penalty rates would be payable.
The City will provide uniforms and equipment necessary for the role during working hours.
Suitable applicants will be placed in a recruitment pool, and may be approached for casual work arising within a six month period from the closing date. It is expected that some casual roles will start in the near term after recruitment has been completed.
Some casual shifts may be offered for shorter periods of 4-5 hours so flexibility in this regard is required as is the ability to perform them on weekends when needed for proactive patrols.
**Hourly rate**: $46.70 - $54.68 per hour, depending on skills and experience.
