QUT is seeking a Research Fellow to join the ARC Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child to develop innovative and impactful research in early childhood learning and development, digital technology in education with a particular focus on working with young children (birth - 8 years) and educators or families in a diverse range of education contexts.

We pursue research with impact, and our researchers collaborate on projects in specialised research groups and facilities across disciplines and institutions.

The Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice is led by the Executive Dean and the Faculty Executive team comprising the Executive Dean, Deputy Dean, Heads of School, Associate Dean Learning and Teaching, Associate Dean Research, and Faculty Operations Manager.

The faculty is comprised of the following Schools under the leadership of the respective Head of School:

- School of Communication
- School of Creative Practice
- School of Design
- School of Early Childhood and Inclusive Education
- School of Teacher Education and Leadership
- School of Justice

In addition, specialist Faculty professional functions include
- Faculty Operations: Budget and Planning, School Administration Support, Space, Equipment and Assets, and Technical Services teams under the leadership of the Faculty Operations Manager
- Office of the Deputy Dean: Engagement, and Student Specialist Support under the leadership of the Deputy Dean
- Office of the Executive Dean under the leadership of the Executive Dean

**About the Centre**

The Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for the Digital Child (Digital Child).

The purpose of the Digital Child is to provide evidence-based transdisciplinary research related to children and digital technologies that leads to positive outcomes for children. It aims to enhance public understanding, inform policymakers and provide guidance for families, educators and technology creators to support children to be confident growing up in a rapidly changing digital world.

The Centre’s vision is to have Australian children, healthy, educated and connected in a digital world.

The Centre’s objectives:

- Lead a comprehensive research program globally in young children’s engagements with digital technology.
- Translate Centre research findings to create more united understandings across disciplines, governments, communities, and families.
- Be recognised and valued by the Australian community as a respected and trusted voice regarding children’s use of digital technology because of the evidence-knowledge the Centre communicates.
- Inspire, equip and mentor the next generation of researchers to examine the impact of current and emerging digital technologies on the lives of young children.
- To create and nurture a true transdisciplinary research culture that respects difference and values, and diverse research-informed views.

**What you need to succeed**

You will demonstrate:
1. Completion of a doctoral qualification in education, social sciences, digital studies or related discipline.
2. Demonstrated ability to conduct and manage independent research, including planning and delivering project outcomes within agreed timeframes and budget.
3. Demonstrated experience in qualitative research techniques, and preferably having undertaken research involving children, social interaction and children’s engagement in a digital world.
4. Demonstrated high level oral communication and interpersonal skil
