DISABILITY SUPPORT WORKER

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The Disability Support Worker will provide individual support to people with disabilities, using a flexible, responsive, and individualized approach to assist participants to meet their individual and articulated goals.

SCOPE: The Disability Support Worker will:
1. Provide high-quality support that addresses client needs as articulated in their Plan and enhances their independence, abilities, community participation, and quality of life.

2. Respect the personal preferences of clients in meeting their needs and encourage individual growth and development.

3. Work in conjunction with other Support Workers and management to perform duties as directed.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualifications:
1. Minimum Certificate III in Disability Services or equivalent.
2. Previous employment experience in the disability/community services sector is highly desirable.

Experience, Skills, and Knowledge
1. Proven experience in working with people with disability, including psychosocial disabilities, and providing quality services that assist individuals to maintain their independence and participate in their community.
2. Proven experience in working within an Individual Planning process for people with disabilities within the context of the National Disability insurance Scheme (NDIS).
3. Demonstrated ability to respond professionally and effectively to competing priorities, use initiative, and work independently and in a team environment.
4. Good verbal and written communication skills including the demonstrated ability to work independently and report accurately to the supervisor.
5. Demonstrated interpersonal skills including the ability to work and communicate effectively with participants, their families, and community agencies.
6. Proficiency in the use of computer software such as Word and Excel.
7. Demonstrated cultural competence & commitment to work respectfully with Indigenous and Culturally & Linguistically Diverse people (including clients and staff) and other communities of interest.
8. Demonstrated willingness to participate in supervision, reflect on practices, review performance, and adhere to work plans, and reasonable workplace directives.
9. Ability to display discretion and sound judgment, with confidential and sensitive information.
10. A commitment to non-discriminatory practice base, WHS, and access and equity principles.

Licenses, Certificates, and Professional Registrations
1. Current NSW Working with Children Check
2. National Police Criminal History Report (less than 3 months old) with an acceptable outcome.
3. Valid First Aid Certificate and CPR
4. NSW Drivers Licence and a valid car insurance
5. Sign and adhere to the NDIS Code of Conduct

**Job Type**: Casual

**Salary**: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour

- Campbelltown NSW: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)

Licence/Certification:

- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Working with Children Check (preferred)
- National Police Certificate (preferred)
