Typically possesses an applicable technical degree or certification and has the requisite broad work experience in one or more of the disciplinary areas, with project construction management experience essential.

**ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES**:

- Leader in the implementation of safety and environmental practices, policies and procedures;
- Includes orientation and leading Bechtel and Contractor safety meetings.
- Champion the cause of ZERO Accident Philosophy, ensure that Bechtel and local/national safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with within assigned area of responsibility.
- Lead regular inspections on site for unsafe conditions and practices and take appropriate corrective action to correct breaches, incident prevention.
- Lead by example and ensure compliance of all safe work practices at all times in conjunction with the Environmental Safety and Health Advisor.
- Responsible for supervising and directing contractor(s) in an Engineering Procurement and Construction Management (EPCM) leadership capacity for integration with client personnel and brownfield environments.
- Ensure the most current design documentation is delivered on time and made available by Contractor and their Subcontractors to complete work, and that all design changes are approved prior to implementation.
- Monitor the activities of Contractors and Subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and schedules.
- Responsible for the cost, schedule and optimization of craft labor and equipment maintaining the four week look ahead, 90 Day and Integrated schedule.
- Prepare reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, craft personnel forecasts, and expenditures forecasts in liaison with Project ControlsReview and approve major Contractor equipment mobilization and demobilization.
- Responsible for implementing corporate project policies, procedures and instructions within assigned area of responsibility.
- Coordinate with Capital Project Superintendents to ensure Contractor is supported to execute work.
- Coordinate established area operational plans.

**KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE**:

- The requisite level of capability is normally acquired through a minimum of 15 years in demonstrated capacity - along with:

- A recognized degree from an accredited college or university providing a recognized technical degree or certification, sufficient number of specialized courses, recognised prior practical work experience in construction.
- Knowledge of close client secondment interaction, EPCM contract Management, and the Contractor(s) and their subcontractor’s responsibilities.
- Knowledge of construction technologies.
- Knowledge of supervisory functions relating to field activities.
- Familiarity with current industry quality standards and Bechtel & Client specifications.
- Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H).
- Demonstrable commitment to a Zero Accident safety program. Site Superintendent is to be aware of ES&H requirements within Bechtel, Client organization, and to Australian Regulations.
- Extensive experience in construction of large projects, and able to undertake and administer small to medium capital projects.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Applicable trade background desirable
- Proven customer relationship skills are essential, and Site Superintendent is expected to the forefront of Bechtel’s representation with the Client with a view to grow opportunity from performance excellence and delivery as promised.
