**About the Opportunity**
The Clinical Documentation Specialist role will see you focus on providing a clinically based concurrent review of inpatient medical records to evaluate the utilisation and documentation of acute care services.
The primary goal of the review will be the facilitation of appropriate physician documentation of care delivery to accurately reflect patient complexity. This is a crucial role in the hospital’s operations day-to-day.
Reporting to the Director of Financial Services, you will improve clinical documentation and support accurate and appropriate reimbursement optimisation.
**About You**
The successful applicant will be required to work autonomously to interpret the necessary desired outcomes and to develop the key performance criteria for this role. You will be self-driven and enjoy a role where you can implement key initiatives and drive change.
You will bring to this role the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, in particular forming a solid working relationship with medical practitioners, excellent critical thinking ability and strong attention to detail.
**Essential Skills and Experience**
- Current registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse
- Minimum 5 years recent clinical experience in an acute care setting
- Knowledge of medical records documentation
- Strong broad-based clinical knowledge and understanding of pathology/physiology of disease processes
- Ability to deliver results within tight timeframes
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office suite programs
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain physician relationships
- Strong ability to work autonomously and deliver desired outcomes
**Highly Regarded Skills and Experience**
- Competent using Meditech
