**The Role**

The Security Coordinator will play an essential role in the delivery of security services and supports the day-to-day security operations. They will provide leadership to the operational team and assist security management in guiding, coaching and mentoring members of the team.

The Security Coordinator will support the security teams’ administrative responsibilities including but not limited to; procedural reviews, rostering and task allocations, procurement activities and risk assessments.

The Security Coordinator will support security management in the research, planning and delivery of security services and arrangements for major events and ceremonies.

The role requires face to face interaction with visitors to the Memorial, and as such requires a strong customer service ethic. The Memorial’s stakeholders are diverse, and range from senior government officials, veterans and families, VIPs and the Diplomatic Corps to the general public and Memorial employees at all levels. A high level of communication skills, demonstrating discretion and empathy is therefore required in the role.

The role will also be required to support security management on a range of Protective Security matters including researching and drafting reports and advice to senior managers.

**Core Responsibilities**

Under general direction:

- Assist security management in providing leadership and support to the operational team
- Providing administrative and office support to the greater memorial on a range of matters
- Operational support to the Security Control Room from time to time
- Developing and maintaining a broad range of stakeholder relationships both internal and external to the Memorial.
- Providing advice to stakeholders at all levels on a range of Protective Security matters.
- Assist in reviewing, updating and developing Memorial security arrangements and policy as required.
- Lead the implementation of approved controls and procedures.
- Assist in the development, review and implementation of Protective Security awareness programs.
- Undertake the duties of Deputy Chief Warden including support and coordination for incident management, investigation, emergency response and crisis management.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and implement Protective Security arrangements based on guidance from the Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF).
- Manual handling and movement of security related objects, including but not limited to bollards and barricades.
- Abide by and further the principles and practice of Work Health and Safety as outlined in the WH&S Act, taking reasonable care for their own health and safety and ensuring that their acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health and safety of other persons.

**Additional Requirements**
- Be able to work outside of core business hours, on weekends, public and school holidays as needed and based on operational requirements.
- Manual handling is a requirement of the position.
- The role may be required to perform an out of hours’ on-call function on occasions.
- This role may be required to undertake First Aid duties (training provided if required)

**Position Eligibility**
- Under section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS).
- All applicants external to AWM that are offered employment will be required to successfully undergo a National Police Check, even if they currently hold a security clearance. The check is conducted in accordance with the Australian Government Protective Security Policy Framework requirements.
