The Community Services Group (CSG) is comprised of National Production Services (NPS), Environmental Prediction Services (EPS) and Decision Support Services (DSS) which have been designed to enable scalable, national, and resilient services. With an overarching mission to deliver tailored, relevant and timely information to enable better decision making, the National Production Services program will lead and coordinate the Bureau's national forecast and warning services within CSG.
To ensure resilience across the enterprise, NPS, DSS & EPS functions are connected through national coordination, integration and planning. This is critical during periods of peak workload, such as concurrent or extended high impact weather events. Operating with a national capability, the NPS program is accountable for delivering forecast and warning services 24/7 in collaboration with DSS and EPS teams as required.
As part of the Services Development and Integration (SDI) team the National Operations Coordination Team (NOCT) coordinates national capability and actions for CSG (and elements of BSG). During severe weather events, the NOCT works closely with NPS, DSS and EPS to activate operational response plans based on hazard specific guidance within National Weather and Hazard Outlooks. The NOCT liaise with leaders across NPS, DSS, EPS and the wider Bureau to ensure that appropriate resources are activated as required with sufficient lead time.
Reporting to the Manager SDI, the NOCT Lead is responsible for operational response planning based on the National Weather and Hazard Outlooks. NOCT functions as a single team in multiple locations with staff working a mix of office and home based days throughout each week.
To be successful in this role, you will have an underlying curiosity about the impacts of the evolving weather, flood, ocean and climate landscapes. You will need to be a remarkable leader with exceptional communications skills and provide direction to a bespoke team working towards a seamless and effective national operations approach.
