Shell Energy is expanding its distributed energy offerings to support commercial & industrial (C&I) energy users in Australia. This allows Shell Energy’s customers to better manage their energy demand as Australia transitions to cleaner energy and with wholesale electricity prices settling on a 5-minute basis.

**Sydney**, the
**Demand Response Flex Operations Analyst** will be joining Shell Energy’s dedicated Energy Solutions business unit and is responsible for managing Shell Energy’s day-to-day Demand Response Flex operations, and planning for participation in new markets. This key role will also work closely with the broader Energy Solutions team to provide an outstanding customer experience for all our C&I energy users.
With honesty, integrity and respect, you will:
- Onboard & test customer assets, and processing of dispatch events;
- Analyse and troubleshoot customer dispatch issues;
- Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance the customer experience;
- Refine current processes, tools, and checklists for existing DR Flex programs;
- Conduct data mining activities and analysis to improve event forecasting and dispatch performance;
- Set-up and manage Shell Energy’s participation in:
- Regulated programs - RERT and other off-market opportunities with AEMO
- Frequency markets - contingency FCAS, Fast Frequency Response (FFR)
- Wholesale markets - wholesale demand response mechanism
- State Government programs - e.g. ACT battery program, NSW clean energy initiatives
- Network support programs - DNSP and TNSP programs.
- Develop program requirements for system programming and sales teams;
- Ensure compliance with program participation and provide knowledge sharing to the business;
- Incorporate new and updated offerings into existing tools and dispatch platforms;
- Standardise the input and output of tools to streamline the customer DR Flex lifecycle;
- Work with DR Flex Technical Lead and DR Flex Operations Lead to priorities these initiatives; and
- Support delivery of systems changes with DR Flex Technical Lead, and System Development Leads.
**What you’ll bring**
Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:
- Experience across the energy & utilities industry, including in wholesale energy markets;
- Previous involvement in demand response or demand management programs, solar, and battery projects;
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and intermediate to advanced SQL programming skills, for providing data analytics to inform operational decision making;
- Experience in day-to-day operations and strong market knowledge to enable customer participation in new Demand Response programs;
- Capability to map, plan and manage end-to-end operational improvements; and
- Excellent time management and organisation skills.
