The Team Leader provides leadership and support in a fast-paced, service delivery environment. Managing a team of multidisciplinary staff, this role requires a client-centric approach and a demonstrated ability to engage with wide-ranging stakeholders both internally and external to the Department.

The Team Leader works with the broader VCS leadership team to achieve business outcomes. Working closely with the Assistant Director, the Team Leader manages the workload and is responsible for the performance of their team, developing and implementing strategies to achieve performance targets. They focus on delivering a high quality service to veterans and their families by driving best-practice service delivery and continuous capability and workflow development.

**Duties**
- Lead a team of APS4 and APS5 staff while fostering a collaborative, positive and productive team environment
- Provide leadership and drive positive performance by mentoring, coaching and supporting all members of the team
- Deliver constructive feedback, provide support to improve performance, manage behaviours and acknowledge individual and team achievements
- Identify and address learning and development needs to develop team and individual capability.
- Address under-performance in a timely, consistent and professional manner.
- Take measures to ensure the health and safety of staff working from home and the office
- Manage workloads, workflow, staff leave and other commitments for your team in a manner that maintains service delivery standards.
- Analyse data and use that information to report on team achievements and areas of opportunity
- Actively support the decisions of the executive leadership and engage your team and colleagues in supporting the strategic direction of the agency
- Provide operational intelligence and identify opportunities for business improvement while proactively supporting change
- Initiate and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Perform representational and outreach activities, including engagement with ex-service organisations
- Undertake local quality checking of claims and facilitate the correction of cases under the agency’s Quality Assurance program
- Prepare briefs and written responses to Ministerial correspondence, talking points, and client feedback
- Manage sensitive client matters and escalated enquiries

A merit pool will be established that may be used to fill similar positions (ongoing and non-ongoing) within the next 18 months.
