The
Faculty of Science and Engineering
is currently seeking an experienced Research Operations Manager for a 20 month, fixed-term appointment, the
ARC Training Centre for Facilitated Advancement of Australia's Bioactives (FAAB).
Key Accountabilities- Provide strategic advice, support and recommendations to the Centre Directors and take a lead role in the development and implementation of operational and resourcing plans.- Project manage centre initiatives and events and work with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver strategic and operational plans alongside organising training programmes, workshops, meetings and networking sessions with local industry.- Contribute to business development and work collaboratively with stakeholders to actively pursue opportunities with a view to enhance relationships, collaboration and financial/contract outcomes.- Manage and provide operational and administration support for the centre across budget and finances, staff recruitment and onboarding, procurement and purchasing, marketing, contract management, communication and media, external initiatives, outreach and engagement, training and partnerships.- Ensure effective governance frameworks, controls, systems and procedures are in place and aligned with faculty and university policies, procedures and guidelines

Within the Faculty of Science & Engineering, the
ARC Training Centre for Facilitated Advancement of Australia’s Bioactives (FAAB)
brings together Deakin University, the University of SA and Western Sydney University with research universities in the UK, Germany and Brazil, and 14 respected Australian industry partners, to develop products of high molecular complexity that can relieve chronic and acute health problems.
The Faculty of Science and Engineering is a young and dynamic faculty driven by the spirit of discovery. Here we nurture the next generation of science and technology innovators. From a handful of students on the University’s first day, the Faculty now serves nearly 9000 students across all our programs. Our research and teaching addresses the big issues faced by society in Australia and globally - the changing environment, future materials and fuels, biotechnology and cyber security.
About You
You will be flexible, organised and have a practical hands-on approach to managing and administering centre operations. As your duties will vary across a wide spectrum of centre activities, you will possess sound judgement and be comfortable managing and prioritising activities and working adeptly with people. You will have a background in operational business or research administration and ample experience overseeing the delivery of operational, administrative and financial services to a unit, department or team spread across multiple locations.

Selection Criteria- Relevant tertiary qualification/s and or equivalent experience- Demonstrated ability to plan at both strategic and operational levels with strong organisational skills to ensure the delivery and implementation of operations and services- Highly developed conceptual, analytical, problem solving and research skills including the ability to develop innovative solutions- Exceptional relationship management skills with the demonstrated ability to develop collaborative and cooperative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders- Managing, administering and reporting on complex budgets
Desirable- Working in a complex research or higher education environment involving significant grant administration and project funding
