**About the role

The purpose of this position is to provide data expertise and support to the Metro North Public Health Unit (MNPHU) by:
Undertaking high level data management to ensure data quality and relevance for the purposes of public health surveillance, operations and reporting.
Developing and implementing data automation processes across a range of portfolios, including and not limited to immunisation, communicable disease, environmental health, and emerging public health threats.
Performing high level data analysis and communication of health related information.
Overseeing internal data protection practices and policy.
Overseeing the use of current and emerging software for public health operations.
Continuously working with both internal and external stakeholders to understand data needs of the unit.

About you

Develop, maintain and improve surveillance reports, using automated processes for gathering, cleaning, linking and analysing data from public health, hospital and population health datasets.
Continuously optimise systems for efficient use and communication of data across a range of portfolios in the MNPHU, including and not limited to immunisation, communicable disease and environmental health.
Provide high level data expertise and support for complex problem solving, using contemporary tools such as Microsoft Power BI, REDCap, R statistical software and/or the ability to quickly learn new software tools.
Perform ongoing management of local immunisation, communicable diseases and environmental health databases, by engaging with key stakeholders, performing quality control, and providing adhoc and routine reports.
Provide high-level technical support and oversee local data operations during public health incidents, to assist in the unit's response.
Oversee internal data protection practices and policy, to ensure the unit is compliant with relevant data privacy and security requirements.
