APRA is seeking an experienced accounting and financial risk expert to join the Accounting Services team within our Policy and Advice Division.

The team provides specialist advice on accounting, audit and prudential matters across APRA regulated industries, so as to promote APRA’s interests and policy directions.

In this role, you will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders that include divisions of APRA as well as APRA regulated entities, other regulators and the accounting and audit profession.

Additionally, in this role you will be responsible for:

- Providing advice and guidance in developing APRA’s analytical and prudential framework for regulated entities.
- Reviewing, analysing, and developing APRA’s prudential requirements including managing the consultation process with representatives from regulated entities, industry associations, other stakeholders and across APRA.
- Staying up-to-date with developments in financial sector accounting standards nationally and internationally so as to be able to provide advice on prudential developments by regulated entities.
- Continuing professional development to maintain and update technical expertise in relation to accounting and prudential requirements and practices in Australia and internationally in a rapidly changing regulatory and market environment that requires quick responses to emerging issues.

To be successful in this role you will have leadership and managerial skills as well as highly developed technical expertise in accounting matters. Previous APRA regulated industry experience preferably in insurance and knowledge of the prudential framework for APRA regulated industries is essential. You will have substantial organisational, self and priority management skills. Also, you will need to demonstrate strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
