**The Opportunity**

You will be involved in meaningful work that supports the Agency’s purpose to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are heard, recognised and empowered. The work of the audit and assurance team ensures that process and system controls are operating as intended and provides confidence that risk is being managed appropriately, and that legislative requirements are being met.

As an APS 6 Assurance Adviser you will be required to:

- undertake work that is more complex in nature and work with some autonomy and under limited direction
- contribute to managing the NIAA audit and assurance work program
- ensure audit and assurance processes are rigorously followed by staff, in keeping with relevant standards
- monitor appropriate auditing and assurance techniques, in compliance with relevant standards
- assist staff with assurance analysis and stakeholder interviews, where they need additional support and/or the analysis is beyond their existing skillset
- coordinate assurance reporting including cyclical reporting to NIAA's audit committee/s, senior leadership forums and relevant government agencies
- identify emerging trends and ongoing issues in assurance reporting content and keeping the leadership team informed of these
- assist with the development and delivery of assurance related training and education to all staff, relevant stakeholders and partners
- lead the development and implementation of projects to improve NIAA audit and assurance practices, monitoring and control
- collaborate with a range of key internal and external stakeholders and networks on a range of complex matters
- deliver high quality audit and assurance products and undertaking complex data analysis.

Demonstrated experience in assurance and/or audit is highly desirable.
