The role of Policy Advisor presents a challenging and rewarding opportunity well suited to a motivated, adaptable individual eager to work collaboratively in a small team. As a Policy Advisor you will be required to provide strategic policy advice on infrastructure policy issues in the health sector; engage with other divisions in the Department of Health and across government to leverage Whole of Victorian Government objectives and drive health system reform.. You will also be required to provide timely and responsive advice on a range of issues to support senior executives in key decision making forums; respond to requests from senior executives and the Minister; and regularly provide input into Parliamentary, Cabinet and government processes.

**Accountabilities**:

- Provide authoritative advice and reasoned recommendations based on comprehensive research and analysis.
- Contribute to the development and provision of advice and sound policy recommendations to senior management and government.
- Undertake research and contribute to the development of a range of policy and initiatives within resourcing, timeline and budget parameters.
- Monitor and report on high priority issues, risks and trends and prepare and present reports, ministerial briefs, Cabinet and agency submissions.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the department and with key external stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external project stakeholders including internal divisions, regions, agencies, consultants and contractors.
- Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Coordinate with and contribute to managing stakeholders through effective negotiation and influence.
- Demonstrate how the actions and outcomes of this role and work unit impact clients and the department's ability to deliver, or facilitate the delivery of, effective support and services.
