Experienced Correctional Officers

Northern Territory Correctional Services has an important role in our justice system - to supervise and rehabilitate prisoners in custody, and offenders under supervision in our communities.

**As a Correctional Officer, your role will be dynamic and challenging. You will help make our communities safer by supporting and mentoring prisoners to become responsible community members when they leave custody. You will help deliver services that enable prisoners to improve their lives and successfully reintegrate back into the community.**

**Selection criteria for an Experienced Correctional Officer include**:

- Being of good character, with strong communication and organisational skills, and understand the value of being a team player.
- Having the skills and ability to work in a cross-cultural environment.
- Being an Australian or New Zealand citizen or a permanent resident of Australia.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Correctional Officer (not including training)
- Having a minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a Correctional Officer. Training time does not count toward minimum requirement.
- Certificate III in Correctional Practice (or equivalent) is the essential minimum qualification
- Holding a full Northern Territory driver’s licence with competence in driving manual vehicles upon commencement.
- Holding a current approved First Aid Certificate valid for six month upon commencement.
- Ability to meet and observe the Northern Territory Chief Health Officer’s - Public and Environmental Health Act 2011 COVID-19 Directions at the time.

**Salary/Remuneration**:
A generous salary, inclusive of allowances:

- Applicants holding a Certificate III in Correctional Practice salary range is $61,372- $67,333, plus 34% consolidated allowance, plus 10% superannuation ($88,375 - $96,959 remuneration package).
- Applicants holding a Certificate IV in Correctional Practice commencement salary is $67,333 plus 34% consolidated allowance, plus 10% superannuation. ($96,959 remuneration package)
