**About us**

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focussing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. **What does the Manager, Operational Engagement and Communication do?**

As the Manager, Operational Engagement and Communication, you will manage and deliver engagement and communication services for the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct as it transitions to operations.

You will develop and implement a communication and engagement strategy for the transition, in consultation with Youth Justice and Strategic Communication staff. The strategy will cover stakeholders including existing staff, community members, oversight bodies and other jurisdictions, as well as channels including media, events, stakeholder collateral, web and social media.

As the project lead for communication and engagement, you will develop a variety of communication collateral for a range of channels and audiences, working closely with Youth Justice staff to plan and manage stakeholder and community events, site tours, and related activities, including coordinating logistics and presenting to relevant groups.

You will also provide authoritative strategic advice on communication requirements, risks, issues and opportunities, and will work with specialist Strategic Communication teams to coordinate ministerial and departmental media and events, and provide digital, design, and internal communication services.

You will be based at head office in the Melbourne CBD though regular travel to the Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct is required.

**What skills should a Manager, Operational Engagement and Communication have?**

To be successful in this role, you will have experience developing communication materials for a range of audiences and channels as well as planning and implementing stakeholder and community events.
- an expert understanding of stakeholder and community engagement strategies and approaches
- excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability identify key messages and tailor content and style appropriate to the audience
- well-developed stakeholder management skills including managing a range of complex and often competing needs
- a full and current driver's licence.

A tertiary qualification in communications or related field is also desirable.

You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
