POSITION PURPOSE
The position of course coordinator is to coordinate, manage and motivate a dedicated team of vocational trainers and assessors, and to work at a senior level as an experienced nursing course facilitator.

The position requires a strong focus on quality learning outcomes that meet Registered Training Organisation (RTO) Standards, Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) standards, and continuous improvement of the course program.

The role includes contributing to course development, delivery structure and design, review and evaluation and recruitment of nursing students.
RELATIONSHIPS
**_Internal Supervision_**

The position of course coordinator will report directly to the HoN and is expected to work in collaboration with student support services, head trainer, clinical placement coordinator, academic management team and AHIC administration staff.

The primary responsibilities of the role are to coordinate and oversee Diploma of Nursing activities, including induction and orientations to blended modes of delivery, coordination of cohorts for the classroom and simulation laboratory training delivery and recruitment of new students to the program.

**_External_**

The position is required to develop and maintain a high level of cooperative working relationships within the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and Nursing Department including:

- nursing training team and clinical facilitators
- external customers notably students
- Course program committee
- Enrolled Nurse Industry Representative Committee
- Aboriginal and Consumer representatives
- Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council

**PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE**

The primary responsibilities of the role are to coordinate and oversee Diploma of Nursing activities with an emphasis on the continuous improvement of the program at AHIC, with a strong focus on quality learning outcomes that meet RTO standards and ANMAC enrolled nurse accreditation standards.

The position is also responsible for student administration and resources associated with the Diploma of Nursing programs conducted by the RTO at the Surry Hills Campus. This position will work with the HoN to achieve the overall operational and strategic goals of Diploma of Nursing course program and build strong relations with the professional bodies of the nursing community.

**_Key responsibilities_**
- maintain a current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
- contribute to the promotion and recruitment of students to the programs through the college website, videos and promotional resources;
- support ongoing curriculum development and quality assurance processes for all aspects of internal and external ANMAC accreditation requirements.
- plan and coordinate the delivery intakes dates and assessment planning of each cohort within the nursing program;
- lead quality activities including validation and moderation of course resources, peer review of trainers and facilitators and benchmarking activities for continuous improvement processes;
- incorporating national and regional health priorities, health research, health policy and reform;
- person-centred care;
- evidence-based care;
- analytical and reflective practice;
- legal, regulatory and ethical requirements for contemporary practice;
- quality and safety principles;
- health informatics and health technology;
- cultural safety;
- be actively involved with student support services for counselling, information technology, mandatory reporting and academic support to assist in identifying additional student learning support needs, reasonable adjustment requirements and facilitate access to specialist services where appropriate;
- participate in enrolled nursing Industry reference group meetings;
- perform interim and summative evaluations of the course across theoretical, simulation, self-directed and professional experience placement to the HoN, and make recommendation about relevant changes required;
- provide leadership, engendering teamwork, and collaboration to the team including oversight of the professional development activities to maintain and develop scholarship and research expertise relevant to the discipline, actively contributing to the research culture of AHIC;
- coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Diploma of Nursing program and provide recommendations to the HoN for staffing to meet the staff matrix of the course program; and
- work closely with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander internal and external stakeholders, including undertaking local industry engagements, to achieve positive and successful educational and business outcomes for AHIC.
