**About the role**

This is an exciting time to join Santos and lead the Payroll & Employee Records Team. The People & Culture function has an ambitious agenda which includes the optimisation of our HRIS Systems and processes, delivering a new shared Services capability to the business and turning our efforts to deliver a customer focussed, market leading employee experience.

This role is key in leading and developing a team as we continue our journey to optimise payroll and related processes and to support the business as it transforms and grows. You will be a passionate, pragmatic leader who role models excellence, has the capability to engage with business stakeholders and thrives in a fast paced, complex environment.

As the leader of this team, you will be responsible for
- Delivering timely, efficient and accurate payroll for our Australian employees (field and office based) and expatriates
- Partnering with People Business Partners, and the broader business to support delivery of the People & Culture strategy
- Working with internal and external audit to ensure compliance with business processes, employment contracts, workplace agreements, relevant tax law and legislative requirements.
- Delivering sound processes and practice for managing system and process interfaces with external providers including banking, superannuation and salary sacrifice arrangements.
- Driving a change agenda to optimise payroll and employee records processes through innovation and automation
- Development and implementation of service metrics, trend analysis
- Management of key payroll vendors

**About you**

We are looking for someone with significant experience in payroll with a track record in managing a team, and who will commit to upskilling and developing your people.

We need a leader with the energy to deal with our business-as-usual activities, as well as identify, review and implement changes to those that will assist us to continue to improve how we operate and support the business and the function. You will possess:

- Outstanding stakeholder skills coupled with a collaborative approach
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Previous experience in identifying and delivering change programs associated with business improvements
- Cultural competence
- Perseverance and resilience with a solutions orientation
- Best practice mindset, with the capability and desire to drive continuous improvement

Ideally you will have experience in SuccessFactors or SAP, or an integrated HRIS system and have worked in a complex commercial organisation. Strong reporting capability and analytical skills to assist in making informed, data lead decisions are critical.
