Your role at St John of God Midland Hospital

You will be supporting the Manager Patient Food Services, this position plays a vital role in the delivery of patient services ensuring high quality patient and customer satisfaction through effective distribution and delivery of meals. Collaborating with the Manager Patient Food Services, supervising daily operations, staffing and rostering arrangements all form a part of this role function.

The Position

Act as a role model within the Catering Department and is responsible for demonstrating exemplary conduct, leading safe food handling and promoting a harmonious, supportive and team orientated workplace.
- Responsible for the service levels in the distribution of daily food requirements.
- Monitor and maintain high levels of service delivery to all customers.
- Menu and service planning (Inc. reviewing of recipes and meal schedules) for all diets in consultation with Manager Patient Food Services and the consulting dietitian.
- Assist with the implementation and reviews of cleaning routines to comply with HDWA and Infection Control guidelines.
- Ensures that all relevant food safety, compliance documentation codes of practice and legislative requirements are consistently met and maintained correctly.
- Support the Manager Patient Food Services with effective recruitment, induction and ongoing training as identified and required.
- Manage caregiver rosters and annual leave calendar ensuring maintenance of effective service levels.
- Monitor and manage departmental recurring requisitioning of stock (perishable and non
- perishable) within catering services and liaise with suppliers as required.
- Collaborates in daily, weekly and monthly audits in the production and service process to meet Hospital Food Safety Plan and quality Management activities in accordance with legislative requirements.
- Makes recommendations and assists with the implementation of changes in relation to Food and Dietetic Human Resources Services based reports and quality improvement needs.
- Participates in departmental Quality Circle groups and other taskforces as appropriate.
- Represent Manager Patient Food Services in meetings, when required

All other reasonable duties as directed by the relevant Manager/Supervisor.

You will have previous knowledge and experience in a supervisory role including rostering, delivering performance development appraisals and have the ability to manage budgets. Previous knowledge in Safe food handling practices (HACCP and Food Services) is essential.

To succeed you will have good knowledge and exposure to special dietary controls, effective organisation, team and leadership skills as well as good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills. You will have the ability to set priorities, meet multiple deadlines while leading a diverse group of staff and able to relate to our patients and customers. Well-developed computer skills with a working knowledge of a range of MS

Office packages is essential.
