***Department Overview**: To ensure that Motorola can meet its existing obligations and pursue new opportunities by developing quality and reliable solutions for the installation of subscriber equipment into customer vehicles whilst ensuring compliance to Australian Design Rules (ADR) and OH&S standards.

The Mechanical Vehicle Installation Designer will work closely with the following:

- National Subscriber Manager
- Vehicle Installation and Design Manager
- Subscriber Teams across Australia
- Operations Managers
- Specific project managers as required.
- Subcontractor installation design, ADR and OH&S representatives.
- Customer representatives responsible for their fleet operations and acceptance of installation designs.

** Develop the design for the installation of communications equipment into vehicles, focused on Mobile Radios, Mobile Data and various Camera Systems predominantly into Emergency Services Vehicles.
- Design includes the mechanical securing of equipment, cable routing and connections, antenna placement and power connection.
- The design must consider human factors such as ergonomics, Australian Design Rules (ADR) and OH&S

Design brackets and other mounting systems for the equipment using 3D CAD software (Solidworks)
- Drive continuous improvement in the installation design process, design documents and installation practices.
- Participate in pre offer scoping, costing and preparation of tender responses and request for information relating to vehicle installation designs.

Essential:
Year 12
Desirable:
Mechanical Engineering
Industrial Design Qualifications
Automotive Qualifications

Essential:

- Experience in CAD development and 3D modelling, including mechanical strength, stress and strain principles.

Desirable:

- Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in the automotive industry, preferably at an automotive company.
- Hands on experience with tools, ideally working on vehicles
- Vehicle related electrical, electronic or radio frequency experience
- Experience with metal fabrication processes
- Experience with 3D printed plastic parts
- Experience conducting FEA analysis
- Experience using a range of mechanical tools
