This is a unique opportunity for a dietician with knowledge and experience of working with older people to join a clinical research trial which aims to reduce risk of developing dementia. Experience or an interest in cognitive health is highly valued as you will be counselling people with a mild level of memory or thinking concerns.
**About the research trial**:
**About the role**:
The dietician will facilitate up to 3 tele-health sessions per participant, totalling up to 2 hours per participant. The aim of the tele-health consultations is to support goal setting and lifestyle change to reduce diet-related risk factors for developing dementia.
In line with research practice, the dietician will also be expected to follow standardised procedures, and conduct some research data collection, whilst also being able to respond to the individual experiences of participants. Please see the complete selection criteria below.
The position commences in April 2025, including training on the research protocols, and is required until August/September 2026. Hours vary from 4 to 12 hours per week. A casual appointment or subcontract for a private practitioner is possible. There is opportunity for remote workplace arrangements. New graduates are welcome to apply.
**Key Criteria**:
- Registered dietician with degree in dietetics or equivalent
- Having own ABN/insurance is preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Experience with older adults and behavioural interventions or counselling.
- Ability to consistently adhere to specific guidelines required for research - Reliable access to internet, computer, webcam
- Available to undertake the dietary counselling sessions for the term of the project - Interest and experience in the following is highly valued: Cognitive health; Healthy Ageing; Dementia and dementia prevention; the MIND diet.
