As a Mental Health Support Worker at Faithworks Care Services, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals to live independently, develop daily living skills, and achieve personal goals. You’ll provide compassionate and respectful support tailored to each individual’s needs, helping them stay connected, communicate effectively, and engage with their community. This role requires empathy, patience, and excellent communication skills, as well as a commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for the people you assist.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Daily Living and Independent Skills

Support individuals in organizing their day-to-day lives, including planning, cleaning, meal planning, and shopping to foster independence.

2. Social Support

Help clients stay socially connected by facilitating interactions with friends, family, and the community, and encouraging healthy social relationships.

3. Supporting Communication

Assist individuals with communication difficulties by making information accessible, helping them express themselves, and empowering them to make their own choices.

4. Community Engagement and Activities

Encourage and facilitate participation in community activities, such as swimming, dance classes, cinema outings, and other leisure activities to promote physical and mental wellbeing.

5. Medication and Health Management

Coordinate with healthcare professionals to manage medical needs, including making and attending necessary health appointments.

6. Financial and Tenancy Support

Guide individuals in managing their finances and budgeting, providing support in maintaining tenancies within Faithworks Care’s supported living services.

7. Goal Setting and Achievement

Support individuals in setting and achieving both short
- and long-term goals, such as learning new skills, attending educational programs, or planning meaningful outings and vacations.

Offer a compassionate presence, actively listening and providing guidance to help build confidence and self-esteem. Ensure individuals feel safe both at home and in the community.

**Skills**:

- Compassion and Patience: Display genuine empathy and understanding of each person’s unique circumstances.
- Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and adapt communication styles to meet clients’ needs.
- Organization and Planning Skills: Demonstrate ability to help clients manage daily tasks and plan effectively.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with care procedures, medication management, and any relevant support systems.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to respond calmly and professionally to challenging situations.

**Requirements**:

- NDIS Worker Screening Check: Must have a current NDIS screening check or be willing to obtain one.
- Mental Health Certificate: Completion of a recognized mental health certificate is preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience in mental health support or a similar field is strongly preferred.
- Certificate in Individual Support and First Aid: A current certificate in individual support and first aid is required.

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent, Casual

Pay: $44.00 - $45.00 per hour

Schedule:

- Rotating roster
- Shift work
- Weekend availability

**Experience**:

- Mental Health Support Worker: 1 year (preferred)

Licence/Certification:

- First Aid Certification (preferred)
- Working with Children Check (preferred)
- National Police Certificate (preferred)
- Driver Licence (preferred)

Work Authorisation:

- Australia (preferred)

Willingness to travel:

- 75% (preferred)

Work Location: On the road
